Ruardean Acorns is an Early Years setting providing Care and Education for children age 2 to 5 years. Our aim is “To provide a high quality care and education for pre-school children in a safe and caring environment, where children can build on their social, intellectual, emotional, physical and creative development”
We are situated in the grounds of Ruardean C of E Primary School, we are run by a voluntary committee and cater for children from the local area and beyond. We place an emphasis on 'learning through play'. Children’s learning and development is supported by fully qualified staff within a stimulating environment. Children are able to experience daily activites both indoors and outdoors. We integrate well with the school and regularly join the reception class for PE, Fizzy (which is fine motor skill) and story time. We are also able to use some of the school facilities such as the school playground, forest school area, school field and the school hall. Staff and committee have regular contact with other pre-school groups and childminders in the local area and beyond.
Ruardean Acorns follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework 2021, which sets the standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. The EYFS supports an integrated approach to early learning and care, it gives professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children. For more information, please see our EYFS section.
